Patient Comfort
We understand that many people feel anxious about visiting a dentist. We share your concerns and try to make every dental visit comfortable. We offer topical and local anesthetic, and for those patients who may need even a little more, we also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or a mild tranquilizer. We offer stereo headsets and protective eyewear for your comfort and convenience.

With good access to major roads, we are located across from Fairfield Shopping Mall in Kempsville, just minutes away from I-64 and Route 264. Convenient free parking is readily accessible and in close proximity to the entrance of the building. Handicapped parking is also available.

Because emergencies can occur at any time, our voice mail service can immediately alert the doctor of your need. We offer early morning, lunchtime and late afternoon appointments for your convenience.

Hygiene Appointments
An important part of maintaining your oral health is the removal of plaque and tartar on a regular basis. How often you visit us is determined by your individual circumstances and oral health. During your visit we update your medical history, perform an oral cancer screening exam, check for cavities, review oral hygiene instructions, do an orthodontic evaluation, and also evaluate the health of your gums. Flouride treatments are provided for children and adults as well.

Preventive Services
Highly effective in the prevention of decay, sealants are a simple procedure that does not require anesthesia. A tooth-colored acrylic coating is painted onto the chewing surface of the tooth. This helps to seal the deep pits and assures where decay is most likely to occur.

Detecting Tooth Decay
Often a tooth will not start to bother you until there is significant loss of tooth structure. At this point, the tooth may need more than just a simple filling. With the help of routine dental examinations, problems can be detected early before you experience a toothache.

Implants
A remarkable procedure, implants can replace any or all of your teeth. The implant is actually integrated with the bone and works like a "bolt" which will support a new tooth, bridge or denture. The advantages of implants for patients with dentures are stability, increased function, patient comfort and confidence.

Root Canal Therapy
When the nerve and blood supply of a tooth become infected or inflamed, root canal treatment may be the only way to save the tooth. Root canal treatment consists of removing the nerve that lies within the root of the tooth, and then replacing it with a biologically compatible filling material. Afterwards, it is necessary to protect the tooth with a durable restoration, such as a crown.

Crowns
A "cap", "jacket" or "crown" will restore a broken or heavily filled tooth to its original shape and size. This may also be recommended after root canal therapy has been completed as the tooth becomes brittle and is more apt to fracture. Crowns give your teeth strength, and will improve the appearance of your smile.

Orthodontics
For patients who have crowded or crooked teeth, spaces between their teeth, or misaligned teeth and jaws, orthodontics can reduce the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and trauma due to protruding teeth. It is recommended that children have an evaluation by 7 years of age, however, more than 25% of all orthodontic patients are adults.

Treating Periodontal Disease
While it is seldom painful, and is frequently free of any obvious signs or symptoms, periodontal disease can progress, undetected, to the point where supporting bone is destroyed. With 80 to 90% of all teenagers having some form of gingivitis (inflamed gums) and 75% of adult tooth loss for people over the age of 35 due to periodontal disease, early treatment and prevention is essential. While periodontal disease is caused by plaque, a number of other factors including poorly fitting bridges, badly aligned teeth and defective fillings contribute to the development of this condition.

Cosmetic Dentistry
For the smile you have always wanted, cosmetic dentistry encompasses reshaping your teeth, veneers or bonding, natural-looking tooth-colored fillings and bleaching.

Oral Surgery
Our goal is to prevent tooth loss. Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved, and removal of the tooth is the only treatment. A poorer x-ray allows us to see a complete picture of the alignment of your jaw, tooth position, and also if their is sufficient space for your wisdom teeth to fully erupt. It also helps to evaluate the bone for possible cysts and tumors. Most minor surgeries are performed at our facility, however it is sometimes necessary to refer to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for more complicated cases.

Bridges
A non-removable bridge can restore your teeth to normal function by replacing missing teeth. It will improve the entire health of your mouth by keeping the surrounding teeth in position and can also help maintain the structure of your face and jaw.

Removable Dentures
Many people believe that once they have dentures, they no longer need to regularly visit the dentist. Denture wearers require regular exams to ensure their health, comfort and appearance. Gum tissues constantly change. Periodic relining of the dentures may be necessary to ensure a tight and comfortable fit.

Athletic Mouthguards
We provide state of the art custom made athletic mouthguards for all patients requiring protection during athletic competition in "at risk" sports, including but not limited to football, basketball, karate and other martial arts, soccer, rugby and boxing. Store bought over the counter mouthguards do not fit as well nor do they provide the anticipated and necessary protection to help prevent dental/facial injuries. The only mouthguard that should be worn is that made from a model of the mouth. Patients have individual requirements for a fit, comfort, level of competition , and compliance. The professionally designed custom made mouthguard satisfies these requirements.
